a blend of real world truth and artistic composition that centers around community, and resilience.
The goal for my photojournalism is to carry a sense of Vérité - Artistic realism; to tell stories with the passion that we live them.
In Algonquin legends, a great turtle, who upon her back the land emerges. This is where "Turtle Island" for North America comes from, symbolizing the Earth as a living spirit. The Comanche legend says that god said to them "Eat of this cactus and know me" This belief shows our relationship with nature and our divinity and how it is all interconnected. South Eastern Bands like the Cree and Cherokee legend often portrayed the fox as a certain guide especially for heroes in fables. The fox here represents our guiding principles and ensures us to stay on a righteous path. Together these are our spirit guides protecting and building our pillars of resiliency; Mind, Body, Spirit and Community.
